Growing Great Writers, which provides creative writing clubs to Camden after-school programs, has received a $10,000 gift from Holman Community Grants for the 2021-22 academic year.
The goal of Growing Great Writers is to support English/Language Arts skills among students in grades 4-8 while encouraging joy in language and the exploration of new genres, audiences, and purposes for writing. Teams of two teaching artists facilitate the clubs at partner sites, which have included the Salvation Army Kroc Center, the SOAR program at St. Anthony of Padua School, and Camden Ignite program sites.
The gift from Holman will allow the program to pay teaching artists for their time and effort, as well as expand the program to a third partner site.
