INSTRUCTOR: Monica Shah
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
This lively workshop will explore improvisational comedy to enhance creativity and imagination with the ultimate goal of generating fresh ideas. A mix of interactive improv games will catalyze and rekindle writers’ innate storytelling instincts by tapping into imaginative flow as they release inner critics and overthinking. Participants will practice active listening, co-creativity, and risk-taking to get out of habitual thinking patterns. Literature has its roots in oral traditions and collective story crafting; through spontaneity and imagining out loud together, we will channel that collaborative energy into outside-the-box inspiration. This will be a supportive environment where taking creative risks is celebrated. No prior improv or acting experience is necessary.
Open to adults of all levels and youth 16+.
