INSTRUCTOR: Amber Joseph
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
I am interested in hauntings, and the ways that ghosts can exist in both literal (supernatural and spiritual) and metaphorical (systemic erasure) terms. The questions anchoring this prose workshop might be: What ghosts surround the characters that we create? What do we as writers know about our characters that they don’t (yet or will never) know about themselves? To what extent will our readers perceive the residues of history, legacy, and memory that linger inside our characters’ lives? What haunts your character(s) and worlds they call home? Through selected short excerpts and generative exercises, participants will “uncover” the layers of how their created worlds have left marks on their characters.
Open to adults of all levels.
