Birds are disappearing. Sea levels are rising. Natural disasters are becoming more frequent, devastating homes and communities. Even though these phenomena can make us feel powerless, individuals and groups can use language and storytelling as effective tools for raising awareness and changing policy. This workshop will introduce participants to the building blocks of an advocacy campaign around an urgent environmental  issue. After looking at some examples of effective long- and short-term campaigns, we’ll explore ways to identify and frame timely issues and learn how to develop communications goals, audiences, and platforms. We’ll spend the latter half of the workshop crafting effective messaging for our campaigns. Come prepared with creativity and rage!

Please feel free to bring your lunch.
