ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

From something as unlikely as aliens visiting Earth just to pet your dog, to something as strangely real as Philadelphia’s “Chicken Man,” people are drawn to stories that make us say, “…wait, what?” When executed with mastery, these stories can break what we assume about our own reality or reveal hard truths about our world through the odd. While it is one feat to simply imagine these larger-than-life stories, it is another to ground them in the human experience. Through an exploration of absurdist authors and television, this workshop will help you fill your writing with spectacle and empathy for the characters caught within.
