Why are so many writers drawn to visual art? Through generative exercises, this workshop explores how drawing can benefit one’s writing, by entering a similar openness, attention, and surrender. Participants will write and sketch alongside artwork, leaving with evocative poem and story starts. For beginners/intermediates.
About the instructor:
Caroline N. Simpson is a playwright, poet, and essayist. Her poetry chapbook Choose Your Own Adventures and Other Poems was published by Finishing Line Press in 2018. She was a 2020 Delaware Division of Arts Established Artist Fellow in Poetry, and has thrice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, both in poetry and nonfiction. She teaches high school English at the Tatnall School in Wilmington, DE, and has taught internationally in Turkey and Spain. Follow her at carolinensimpson.com
